Retrospective of rapid.tech 3D 2025
Expert Tables
This year again, experts, trade visitors, and young professionals gathered at five expert tables to discuss current industry topics. The AM expert tables are an interactive discussion session focused on active professional exchange and networking. The goal is to enable a deep dive into specific topics and promote knowledge transfer within the community.
A special thank you goes to Michael Eichmann!
After 21 years of active support, Michael Eichmann (Stratasys) is stepping down as Chairman of the Advisory Board and passing the baton to his successor, Dr. Karsten Heuser (Siemens AG). Michael Eichmann will continue to support us with advice and support in his position as Honorary Chairman.
We thank him for his service and commitment!
3D Printed Heart
In this project, customized heart tissue was created from human adipose tissue. The extracellular matrix was processed into a gel, while the cells were modified to form heart muscle and vascular cells. The "bioink" created from these two components was 3D-printed into patient-specific structures based on CT/MRI data. The goal is to develop customized heart implants for the treatment of heart failure or for drug testing.
"The bio-printed heart marks a turning point in tissue engineering and personalized medicine. With the integration of stem cells and complex biomimetic structures, this research demonstrates how additive manufacturing can go far beyond prototyping - towards creating functional, life-saving, personalized organs."
